AN extra £860,000 is due to be spent on restoration work at historic Valentines mansion, and Redbridge taxpayers are footing the bill.
The 17th Century building in Ilford's Valentines Park is due to be finished in January, but Redbridge Council say more cash is required.
It was revealed at a cabinet meeting on Monday that the ambitious £2million Heritage-lottery funded project has run into unforseen difficulties and complex structural problems.
