POLICE are offering a £20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible for a murder outside the Blue Ice bar on Cranbrook Road, Ilford.

Syed Mehdi was shot in the chest at around 11.30pm on Saturday, March 1, this year by a man believed to be black, aged between 17 and 25, and wearing a grey hooded top who approached him on foot before firing shots from a handgun. He made off in a direction unknown.

Senior investigating officer, DCI John Mackenzie from Trident said: "We are keen to identify three males who we believe spoke to the gunman in Cranbrook Road close to Ilford train station, approximately 150 yards from the bar, shortly before the attack.

"I urge those men, or anyone who thinks they may know them, to contact police as soon as possible and assist this investigation. I must stress, the men are not implicated in the offence.

"We also want to hear from anyone who recognises the suspect. The CCTV image captures him walking towards the camera in Cranbrook Road, after speaking to the three men."

Anyone with information that could assist police can call the incident room on 8733 4758 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
