LEYTONSTONE: Becks' former home on sale

A MILLION pounds is expected to be fetched for a former home of football star David Beckham.

A humble three-bedroomed terraced home in Leytonstone is being sold online, with a price tag of £850,000 - but the owners believe it could be sold for more after receiving interest from around the globe.

Similar houses in the area are on sale for just a third of the price, at under £300,000.

The sellers claim that it the first house that the football star lived in after he was born, before his family moved to Chingford.

Colin Evans, who is selling the house for the owners, said: “I know it was his house because I did some research and found the address listed on his birth certificate. He lived there when he was first born, it was his first home.

“I told the owners and at first they didn’t believe me. But when I took the documentation they wanted to party.”

He added: “Then they came back to me and asked me to sell it for them. Maybe Beckham will want to buy it for sentimental value.”

Mr Evans is expecting a bidding war because of the strong interest internationally in Beckham paraphernalia.

“To look at it, it looks like a humble house, but when you think about who has been in there I understand why it might go for that kind of money.

"It is the brand Beckham selling it.”

The advert: “A three-bedroom House with bathroom and toilet and garden in Leytonstone. This house is footballer David Beckham’s first house, where he lived before moving to Chingford. The lounge has wood flooring looking onto the french windows and the garden, with a fitted kitchen at the back of this lovely town house.”

What poppycock! Yes real serious marketing!

I have just carried out a Google search and it is on Gumtree! Free ad?

It is a 2 up 2 down and I suspect it is a desperate person trying to kick up some interest in the flagging property market.

I was always lead to believe that he was born in Leytonstone yes, Whipps Cross Hospital leytonstone but the family moved to Chingford.

I can tell you now that the house being advertised for a whopping 850K is worth the market price only as no lender would value a house because someone famous lived there. They value the bricks and mortar.

I have never heard so much rubbish since the Police advised the public to call 999 if they saw anyone drowning a squirrel.

As John McEnroe once said "You can't be serious".

Must be a quiet news day!

What a load of utter crap! The house appears to be like its well-knwon former resident - grossly over-priced.

Apparently, the house is in Norman Road at the back of Cathall estate, one of the worse areas for crime in the Borough.

I can just imagine Posh Spice saying
'Yah wanna ringub da cancil Davit an assem ta puddup a blu plak cos yah was borndare'.
