A TEENAGED web designer from King Solomon High School is celebrating after winning a competition to design a new website for a cancer support charity.
Jamie Miller was picked to helped create a brand new site for the London Sarcoma Support Group after wowing judges with his innovative ideas.
He won the honour after seeing off stiff competition from a group of fellow A-level students - all of whom met the challenge with a wide range of imaginative solutions.
Karen Delin - who set up the support group - presented a cheque to Jamie at the school, in Barkingside, and is now working with him to finalise the website before it is uploaded for use by patients and their carers.
Louise Davis, Head of ICT at King Solomon said: ” The project has been useful for the students as they have developed their design and project management skills as well as being involved with a worthwhile cause.”
Sarcomas are cancers of connective tissue - bone, muscle, nerves, fatty tissue, cartilage etc- and are relatively rare, accounting for about 2,400 cases in the UK each year.
The London Sarcoma Support Group’s website it currently under construction but will eventually be available at: londonsarcomasupport.net.
The group meets at the Royal Marsden hospital in Central London.
