A WANSTEAD woman has been given behind-the-scenes access to the G20 summit of world leaders as part of a ground-breaking scheme to give bloggers the same rights as the press.

Carole Edrich, 40, is one of just 50 internet commentators to be allowed into the summit and is the only 'photo blogger' at the event.

Ms Edrich, who works as a freelance journalist, was given the opportunity after being nominated by fellow website authors.

She said: "It really is making history, bloggers have never been allowed this type of access before.

"My idea is to give people a way to make a better judgement on these world leaders.

"I'm hoping for give-aways in the way they act - will they twitch when asked a particular question and will their body language give anything away? Will they come across as shifty or genuine?

"You really can tell a lot about someone by the way they look.

"I started doing a photoblog three or four years ago as a way of keeping in touch with family and friends and it just went from there."

For security reasons many of the details of Ms Edrich's accreditation have not been revealed, but the photographer has been told in some cases she may get greater access than press from national news outlets.
