POLICE are planning to close roads in Buckhurst Hill during Jade Goody's funeral for safety reasons.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the service this Saturday (April 4) to pay their respects to the star who died of cervical cancer on Mother's Day.

Her funeral is being held at St John's Church in Buckhurst Hill.

Loughton Neighbourhood Inspector Tom Simons said: "We anticipate a large turnout from both the media and members of the public wishing to pay their respects to Jade and therefore I have taken the decision to close two of the roads surrounding the church to ensure the safety of those attending.

"I apologise for any disruption this may cause residents."

Church Road and High Road, between Russell Road and Gladstone Road, will be closed from 11am and are expected to open again at 2pm once the crowds have died down.
