ROYAL Marines will take part in a special parade to honour fallen comrade Georgie Sparks.
Led by the Epping Forest Pipe Band, members of 42 Commando will march through the town on Sunday, April 19, to commemorate the 19-year-old who was killed in action in Afghanistan last November.
The parade will set off from the Civic Offices in High Street at 1.45pm to unveil Georgie's name, along with others from the two World Wars, on the War Memorial in Church Hill at 2pm.
Epping Mayor Ben Murphy said: "It is our intention to 'put the flags out' and, while we commemorate the loss of some remarkable young men, we also celebrate and give thanks for the safe return of others."
John Duffell, honorary secretary at the Epping and District branch of the Royal British Legion, said: “It is our chance to show how much the people of Epping appreciate the work our servicemen and women are doing in both Afghanistan and Iraq."
