Young musicians came along to celebrate the opening of a new state of the art recording studio in Loughton this week.

The open day at the Soundlab studios attracted well over a hundred people and manager James Horwood said he was eager to start recording tracks.

He said: "I am incredibly tired, but excited, it turned into a bit of a party in the evening, and everyone was fascinated by our Allan and Heath T112 mixing desk, its the shiny new toy everyone wants to play with."

The Soundlab Studios in the Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate, Loughton in the only one of its kind in the district.

It offers the stars of the future the chance to record and mix their songs and even design their own artwork for the front cover.

They are forming a succesful partnership with the Loughton youth project(LYP) to help talented youngsters record demo cd's- especially as James is a former LYP youth worker.

The technicians have already been busy this week recording a track from the winners of the recent LYP battle of the bands competition, Day-Glo Freaks.
