A FATHER and two uncles accused of murdering a 15-year-old schoolgirl and attempting to kill her boyfriend have failed in their attempt to get some of the charges thrown out of court.

Mehmet Goren, 48, Cuman Goren, 41, and Ali Goren, 55, were arrested and charged in November last year by police over the suspected honour killing of Tulay Goren, who disappeared from her Woodford Green home in January 1999.

They were also subsequently charged with the attempted murder of her boyfriend Halil Umal this year.

In a hearing at Old Bailey on Friday, a legal bid by the defendant's representatives was rejected by judge Mr Justice Bean.

Tulay's father Mehmet, of Navestock Crescent in Woodford Green, will now face trial on Monday 5 October at the Old Bailey along with her two uncles Cuma, of Evesham Avenue in Walthamstow, and Ali, of Brettenham Road in Walthamstow.
