A POLICE helicopter equipped with heat-seeking technology discovered a cannabis factory in Ilford last week, it has been revealed.
Following a tip-off from residents, officers decided to examine the Ilford area in an attempt to see if any homes were emitting unusually high amounts of heat - a tell-tale sign of indoor cultivation of the illegal plants.
After the helicopter swoop, police raided a home in Coventry Road last Wednesday (July 7), and found around 30 to 40 plants growing inside.
A man, in his 30s, was arrested at the scene, and drug paraphernalia and industrial lighting equipment were also seized.
