POLICE in Wanstead have announced they are to target more roads with mobile cameras in an attempt to clamp down on speeding drivers.

Officers at the ward's Safer Neighbourhood Team have said they plan on using the devices in Redbridge Lane West, Elmcroft Avenue and Kingfisher Avenue for the first time.

Police have already been using the cameras in Overton Drive and Aldersbrook Road in recent months, with nearly 100 drivers caught breaking the limit since February.

It comes after a Wanstead ward survey of more than 200 people revealed that speeding drivers are one of the biggest bug-bears of people in the area.

Police have previously been criticised by residents for not using the cameras enough.
