A VILLAGE has been named as one of the best three in Essex in a competition.

Theydon Bois was awarded a merit by the Rural Community Council of Essex who judged the entries.

It was marked on all aspects of village life including the parks, cleanliness, notice boards, allotments and events organised for the community.

Theydon Bois Parish Councillor Anthony Purkiss said it had been a team effort to achieve third place.

He added: “We are always looking to keep the village looking as nice as possible and we are very pleased to have a mention in the competition.”

Theydon Bois church was also awarded with Highly Commended by the judges.
