A PARK was the backdrop for a sunny afternoon of jazz and picnics on Saturday.

Hundreds of music fans gathered in Lloyd Park, in Forest Road, Walthamstow, for an afternoon of performances by the E17 Jazz musicians.

The Friends of Lloyd Park' teamed up with E17 Jazz to organise the event, held in the Aveling Fields area of the park.

Children also enjoyed taking part in giant Jenga games, hula hoops, and egg and spoon races.

Carlos Lopez-Real of E17 Jazz said the day was a great success with about 750 people attending throughout the day.

He said: "It is the first time we have done this and it was a real success, helped by the good weather.

"There was a nice cross section of people and hopefully we do this as an annual event."

The E17 Jazz Festival is on Sunday, September 20.

It kicks off with a children's workshop at the Vestry House Museum in Walthamstow, followed by several live performances at the The Rose & Crown pub in Hoe Street.
