SLIM pickings again this week locally, as many bands, promoters and venues take some time off to enjoy our irritatingly-named "BBQ summer."

Nonetheless, there's still some goodness out there to enjoy.

Over at the Square in Harlow, Thursday (August 13) sees performances from Reflections of Elephants, ThumperMonkey and Our People Vs Your People.

It's £4 to get in and doors open at 8pm.

On the Friday, same time and place, Clash tribute act Rebel Truce take to the stage. Entry is £7 in advance.

While on Saturday, beardy heavy young rockers Bury Tomorrow play a headline set, supported by The Haunting of Leica, Living Nightmare and Dying in Deep Water.

Entry is a fiver.

And for £3 from 8pm on Sunday, there's a blues jam night.

At the Standard in Walthamstow on Thursday (August 13), Club Bus Wind presents a line-up of unsigned bands including Hold Fast Hope and W.I.T. Entry is £5 with a band flyer, or £6 without, and doors open at around 8.30pm.

On Monday night (August 17) at the Plough Inn, Walthamstow, it's Blues Jam night from 9pm. Entry is free.

Further afield, or just down the Central Line and along the Jubilee, Pearl Jam play the O2 Arena on Tuesday (August 18).

Tickets are from £30, with extra fees also added depending on how you pay.

Doors open at 6.30pm.

While the IndigO2 (the smaller venue also crammed into the Dome) hosts an Elvis tribute act on Sunday (August 16).

The main performer is Lee 'Memphis King', who received the award of World Champion Elvis Tribute Artist, at the annual Collingwood Elvis Festival in Canada. So, you'd expect him to be good.

Doors are at 7pm.

Tickets are £26.50 plus booking fees.
