THOUSANDS of postal workers have gone on strike today for 24 hours in a row over pay cuts and jobs.

Members of the Communications Workers Union (CWU) began the industrial action from 3am in delivery officers and collection hubs across the capital.

This includes the East London Mail Centre in Bow, which sorts mail for residents in Waltham Forest.

The union is protesting against job and pay cuts which it says were imposed by Royal Mail “without consultation.”

Royal Mail said it was “getting on with modernisation in an entirely fair and reasonable way.”
