A CAR thought to have been used in the abduction and murder of a 24 year-old man has been found burnt out in a quiet residential street.

The smouldering shell of the white Audi was found by police in Royston Gardens, Wanstead, close to the Redbridge roundabout.

Officers believe the car was used by a gang of four black men thought to be in their 20s who beat up Syed Shazad Abbass in Earlham Grove, Forest Gate, before bundling him into a car and speeding off.

The gang dumped Mr Abbass near waste ground in East Ham in the early hours of Monday morning - where police found him hunched against railings suffering from serious head injuries.

The men are then thought to have driven to Wanstead where they set light to the venicle.

Mr Abbass, of Forest Gate, died from his injuries in hospital yesterday (Tuesday).

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Broster, who is involved in the murder investigation, said Mr Abbass went through a 'terrifying ordeal' before his death and that his family has been left 'devestated.'

He said: "This is a complicated inquiry with a number of potential crime scenes and we need to hear from anyone with information about what happened at each of them.

"Mr Abbass went through what must have been a terrifying ordeal leaving his family devastated."
