ST CLARE hospice is looking for adventurous people to help raise vital funds for people in its care.

The charity in Hastingwood is organising a sponsored trek on the Great Wall of China and is encouraging local people to sign up.

Taking place from September 17 to 25 2010 the challenge will include a five day trek along the wall where the group will visit remote sections of the wall that few people are able to see.

Sue Upton Director of Fund raising said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to trek along the Great Wall of China and explore Beijing knowing that every step will raise vital funds for people living with life limiting illnesses in West Essex.”

The hospice costs £2.5 million each year to provide free care to local people, of which just 30 per cent is funded by the NHS.

The first 20 people to sign up will receive a free 'Lowe Alpine day sack' worth £20.
