RESIDENTS are urged to leave their car at home and walk to a free afternoon of entertainment for the annual Car Free Day.
On Sunday, September 21, in Leytonstone town centre, there will be performances from boyband member Simon Webbe from recently reformed Blue, from reggae group Aswad and local performers.
The event, organised by Waltham Forest Council, is part of a worldwide event to raise awareness about environmental matters, sustainable living and to encourage people to walk and cycle more.
Roads to the town centre will be closed to traffic, including Church Street and Kirkdale Road, making way for stalls, a cycle roadshow and children’s play area with bouncy castle and entertainers.
There will also be food from around the world and George Tomlinson School will be providing activities in their playground and St John’s Church in Church Street will be open all afternoon.
The event will run from 1pm to 7pm.
