Soldiers from 68 squadron from Whipps Cross have spent two weeks honing their skills in Gibraltar

Members of the 68 Signal Squadron, who are based at Whipps Cross Territorial Army Centre, Leyton, honed their field craft tactics, shooting, fitness training and junior commanders worked on their leadership skills.

The Territorial Army soldiers carried out refurbishment of Lord Airey's battery, a 9.2 inch gun which sits on the top of the rock of Gibraltar overlooking the straits.

They carried out community work as well as specialist fighting in 25 miles of underground tunnels and caves.

Major James Evans, officer commanding 68 squadron, said: “The squadron have had two wonderful weeks here on Gibraltar.

“It has been hard work but such a great opportunity to train and combine hard work and tradition and helping out with the community project working on their refurbishment of Lord Airey's battery.”
