THE distinctive wave-shaped roof of the 2012 aquatics centre has been completed and lowered into place.
The Aquatics centre, in the south of the park, near Stratford, will host swimming, diving and water polo events.
The 160m long sweeping roof, which weighs more than 3,000 tonnes, has been described the “gateway” to the Olympic Park.
The roof steel was connected together 20m off the ground on temporary supports.
