A WANSTEAD pub has raised £1,500 for a charity for wounded soldiers.

The Nightingale Pub, in Nightingale Lane, Wanstead, hosted special events over the festive period including a quiz and a raffle for Help for Heroes.

Publican Noel McMahon said: “The charity doesn't really get the support or publicity it should.

“It's a very, very deserving charity. These soldiers do an incredible job under intolerable circumstances and recognition is sadly lacking.”

He now plans to hold further events to help the charity and aims to raise up to £2,000 in the coming weeks.

Anyone wishing to donate is asked to visit the pub and speak to Mr McMahon for further details.
