A MAN has died after the car he was driving hit a lamp-post.
The cause of the crash in Kings Head Hill, Chingford, has yet to be established, but no other vehicles were involved and no-one else was injured.
Emergency services were called to the scene, between College Gardens and Holly Drive at about 2.40pm today (Thursday).
Ambulance crews attended but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death is still being investigated, but unconfirmed reports suggest the driver may have suffered a heart attack.
The damaged silver Renault Megane is blocking the road, which is closed in both directions while traffic investigators examine the site.
Police are redirecting traffic along College Gardens, but the closed road has caused heavy congestion in the area.
