WALTHAMSTOW: Graffiti daubed on Stow facade

VANDALS have graffited the famous facade of Walthamstow stadium, prompting concerns about the way the empty site is being maintained by owners London & Quadrant (L&Q).

Two “tags” were spotted over the weekend by Keith Foster, of Farnan Avenue, Walthamstow.

He said: “The first desecration of the facia towards the street has appeared, no doubt not the last.

“So much for site security.”

L&Q is expected to submit an application for 490 homes, shops and leisure facilities on the site.

This is opposed by campaigners who want to see the venue re-opened for dog racing.

I think that if graffiti vandals are ever caught they should be given a bucket of 'Nitromors' a scrubbing brush and no rubber gloves!
Perhaps a few hours of scrubbing off their 'tags' might deter them from doing it again.

I noticed the graffiti a few weeks ago when leaving the Holiday Inn - thought that the vandals were practicing for the slums that are planned on the site !!!!

We all know L&Q do not care about the heritage of local areas, and that they are only interested in turning places into dormitory towns

For another example of big business buying up our heritage and letting it go to hell, see the EMD cinema in Hoe Street. Like the dog track, a magnificent Walthamstow landmark, left to rot since the UCKG bought it in 2003, with bits falling off the facade into the street.

Any half-decent council would stand up for us. Too bad we've got the London Borough of Waltham Forest, famous only for the number of investigations held into its finances.

Yes, watch out Banksie!
Any graffiti on another person's property is vandalism even if some people think of it as art!
