A CHARITY dinner and auction is to be held next month to raise money for St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood.

The event, at Theydon Bois Village Hall in Coppice Row, will feature a dazzling array of prizes going under the hammer, including a helicopter tour of London for five, a garden makeover, a pair of boxing gloves signed by Mike Tyson and football tickets.

The 'Scarlett Auction' evening, which starts at 7pm on Friday February 12, also includes a champagne reception and dinner.

Tickets, which are £25 per head, are available from organiser Steve Midgley on 0208 502 0122 or 07785 241702.

Sue Upton, director of fundraising at St Clare, said: “The auction promises to be a marvellous event - it’s a new event for St Clare Hospice and we are optimistic that with Steve’s wonderful enthusiasm and the incredible range of auction lots on offer it will be a huge success.

“The auction is set to raise £30,000 which will enable our in-patient unit to provide 1,800 hours of specialist palliative care for local people with cancer or other life limiting illnesses - it promises to be an outstanding contribution to our work.”
