BLIND people in Waltham Forest will benefit after the borough's Talking Newspaper Association was awarded £4,232 from the Guardian.
The organisation scooped the cash after applying to the Gannett Foundation, a charity fund set up and run by our parent company Gannett.
The Walthamstow-based charity, which transfers local news to tapes for blind and visually impaired people in Waltham Forest, will use the cash to upgrade its tape duplicators.
Treasurer David King said: "This means a lot to us. It was a big surprise when we found out we were being granted the money.
"We have just had to have a new roof built after part of the ceiling came down following a leak. We are also wanting to do some refurbishing and this money will help us to fund it.
"We would like to say thank you to the Guardian and Gannett for supplying the money."
