DESPITE reports to the contrary, Davies Lane Infant School in Leytonstone is not "the fourth worst primary school in London".
A survey, undertaken and published by the Evening Standard, ranked the school near the bottom of their league table, based upon demand for places and the number available.
But while their figures showed 80, intake at the Infant and junior schools, soon to amalgamate as a primary, is actually 60 - and 58 applications have already been received.
Nick Morrisey, a spokesman for EduAction, said: "In recent years the infant school admission figure has been amended to reflect the average intake of 60 and more recently the net capacity assessment, a new method of calculating a school roll relative to the teaching space available."
He said they were confident of being fully subscribed by the next academic year, and, that standards were improving as a result of their on-going amalgamation.
"Parents state their preferences after considering several factors including proximity to home, the school ethos, the environment and the overall performance of the school" he added.
