Review by Steve Randall I WAS a little concerned when I received Egypt 3 to review, as I had never heard of Egypt 1 or 2 (not a sign of a great franchise). The game arrived wrapped in a bandage, so the PR machine was at full spin, I hoped the game was up to the job.

Egypt 3 is an adventure game in which you have to assist Pharaoh Rameses in building a tower to ensure his reign continues into his 90th year. As Rameses assistant, you have his seal, which gets most tongues talking to you. This assists you in your investigations as the structure is well behind schedule owing to a number of mysterious events.

The game itself is relatively straightforward, as you are restricted from moving too far away from your current objective. If you start speaking to the wrong character they will ask you why you're not off doing what needs to be done, thereby revealing what you should actually be doing. It can be extremely frustrating walking back and forth between the same five or six areas until you complete a task and have a little extension open up for you.

The game looks wonderful, but strangely enough there is no sense of dirtiness or the dust that you would expect from Egypt. This doesn't detract from a simple non-challenging adventure with simplistic puzzles like you can't go in there as it's too dark and you may fall i.e. go find a torch.

The game is targeted at seven-plus age group and while I wouldn't argue with that, I would say its faults may be shown an element of forgiveness by those with a genuine interest in Egypt.
