ILFORD: Man awaits surgery after being hit by truck

A MAN remains in hospital in a stable condition after being hit by a truck in Ilford.

The 50-year-old was hit yesterday in Woodford Avenue and suffered head and arm injuries.

Paramedics were called at about 11.40am and treated the man at the scene.

He was taken to Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone as an emergency patient and is now awaiting transfer to another hospital for surgery on his arm.

Inspector Martin Allen, of Redbridge Police, said: “His injuries are not life-threatening.

“The circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation.”
