CHIGWELL: Spotlight on Chigwell

AS part of our ongoing spotlight series looking into the district's different communities we asked shoppers and shopkeepers in CHIGWELL what they made of the village.

Ian Martin, 51, of Tudor Crescent, Hainault

“The scenery's all right and it's a nice place. The people are all right and it's a nice area.”

Hayley Georgiou, 22, of Repton Park, Chigwell

“It's a got a good reputation but not much nightlife. You have to go to places like Loughton and Gants Hill for that.”

Sophie Wershof, 25, of New North Road, Hainault

“The people here are friendly and the place has got a lot of money.”

Jessica Soloman, 48, of Park Hill Road, Chingford

“The pubs are nice although there's a lot of orange ladies around. It's a nice enough area.”

Shuvani Courterclera, 40, customer service assistant Chigwell Row Post Office

“The people here are really nice. There's no problems in this area at all.”

Nick Manton, 47, owner AM Garden Machinery, Lambourne Road, Chigwell

“It's a great area to earn a living in and Chigwell Village is nice.”

These comments are a joke right? Did those people honestly say those ridiculous things? Maybe you are quoting Little Britain or one of those other TV shows? It honestly sounds like these people are about 8 years old.

They have really interviewed all the intelligent people haven't they?? Every single comment made me laugh.
" The scenery's all right and it's a nice place. The people are all right and it's a nice area. " - Think this child likes to repeat himself
" It's a got a good reputation but not much nightlife. " - Move somewhere else then, chav.
" The people here are friendly and the place has got a lot of money " - Someone who only cares about money I think.
" The pubs are nice although there's a lot of orange ladies around. It's a nice enough area " - I agree with this one!!!
" The people here are really nice. There's no problems in this area at all " - Just go to Limes Farm!
Haven't had such a laugh for ages

It's the mock tudor crook and rich chav magnet next to Hainault, lived there, left there.

Maybe Chigwell is going through a bad period now because of the morons that currently live there but let's think back to the grand old days of the 50's, 60's, 70's and Chigwell was a wonderful place, old fashioned and refined, I mean back to the days of Brook Parade with Brighties, Jones and Rayner, Beverege & Joyce, remember Clive the Chemist and Mr Binder. You could not find nicer people, it was indeed the greatest place to live back then when there were wonderful gentlemen like Tommy Butcher in residence, those were the grand old days of Chigwell and there may not be many people who read this who can even relate to what I am talking about, Chigwell now is a mere shadow of it's former self, the buildings and streets look the same but with more traffic, too many people and the fools who live there now that will never know how lucky they are - those days are what Chigwell means to me and anyone else who knows the real Chigwell.

Too many like the characters in the BBC series "Birds of a Feather". Significant evidence suggesting money laundering. Ruined by Epping Forest District's Planning decisions.
