Daiglen School boys succesful at senior entry exams

A PRIMARY school has marked another top year with outstanding exam results.

Every single Year 6 boy at Daiglen School, in Palmerston Road, Buckhurst Hill, has gained a place at the senior school of their choice after sitting their independent exams.

In total the 11 boys who sat the competitive entry exams amassed a total of 28 offers, including four academic awards, an all-rounder award and a sports’ scholarship.

Proud headteacher Mary Bradfield said: “In effect, this means that half the boys who sat exams gained an award. They have all done so well. We are delighted to see that the boys’ hard work has been rewarded.”

Daiglen School will hold an open morning on Sunday, March 27 from 9.30am to 11.30am.

A nice bit of free publicity for a fee paying school.
It cost £40 to enrol, then a £I000 deposit. I am not sure what the fees are. It is not too surprising then that they have done so well. I suspect the classess are very small and the amount spent on each pupil is a lot more than the community schools near by. The teachers have almost certainly been trained at the tax-payers expence and then gone over to the private sector.
This all makes an interesting contrast with community schools, who have been starved of funds and are subject to the tyranny of Ofsted.
Has anyone got an answer to this or is this situation fair and just?

Fair and just in my opinion. Fee paying schools do everyone a favour, they reduce the burden on state schools while providing a generally higher standard of education for those who wish to pay. Would people rather see private schools closed and then state schools full to the brim or over-subscribed? No different to private healthcare really.
