TODAY is the final day of the consultation on controversial plans to alter radically the shape of healthcare in Redbridge and around east London.

The Health for North East London (Health4NEL) consultation has been open since November and includes plans to close the A&E department at King George Hospital, Ilford.

Residents have been fiercely opposed to the proposals and a number of protests have been staged in a bid to keep them from going any further.

A series of public meetings have also been held, aimed at keeping members of the public informed about plans for the health service.

Concerns have been sparked over whether services at Whipps Cross University Hospital, Leytonstone and Queen, Romford, would be able to cope if A&E services were dropped at King George.
