WALTHAM FOREST: Former health trust worker convicted of fraud

A HEALTH worker formerly employed by Waltham Forest's primary care trust has been given a suspended jail sentence for lying on his CV.

Hasan Tahsin earned more than £245,000 working for various health trusts, including NHS Waltham Forest, where he was assistant director of estates and facilities in 2004.

Tahsin, 55, of Overton Road, Romford, wrongly claimed he had two first class honours degrees.

He admitted three counts of fraud and two counts of obtaining pecuniary advantage by making false representations.

At Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday he was given a 12-month jail sentence, suspended for a year, and ordered to do 200 hours of community service.

The Guardian is awaiting a statement from NHS Waltham Forest (the re-named PCT).

Well, there's a surprise! Interesting that the PCT has been re-named the NHS. Wasn't it the NHS before it was re-named the PCT? I wonder how much they paid image consultatnts to come up with that one?

Yes, I agree. Great idea though to turn what was once the envy of the world (NHS) into semi-privatised competing trusts. Along with this is the other fantastic idea of spending a huge percentage of the taxpayers' money on a layer of middle-managers like the guy in the story. Clearly they add to the efficiency of the service, asproved by the fraud.(not)
So what was wrong witht the system before? Nothing. What is wrong now? All the above, plus it is costing us a fortune. The polititians claim theyn are spending more on health. So they are.BUT on middle-managers, not doctors and nurses. Give us back our NHS!
