A HEALTH worker formerly employed by Waltham Forest's primary care trust has been given a suspended jail sentence for lying on his CV.

Hasan Tahsin earned more than £245,000 working for various health trusts, including NHS Waltham Forest, where he was assistant director of estates and facilities in 2004.

Tahsin, 55, of Overton Road, Romford, wrongly claimed he had two first class honours degrees.

He admitted three counts of fraud and two counts of obtaining pecuniary advantage by making false representations.

At Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday he was given a 12-month jail sentence, suspended for a year, and ordered to do 200 hours of community service.

The Guardian is awaiting a statement from NHS Waltham Forest (the re-named PCT).
