A LOCAL beauty queen is going for the title of Miss London, in the hope of going on to become Miss UK and then Miss World.

Samantha Pressdee, 22, of Fairlop Road, Leytonstone, was selected from applications from all over London to be given the opportunity to audition for Miss World.

The first round of the Miss World competition for Londoners will be hosted in Soho nightclub Tantra on Saturday.

Miss Pressdee earned the title of Miss Glamour UK in the evening wear section of the final for the Miss United Kingdom Earth contest earlier this month.

She was among the top ten women from all over the country in the international beauty contest which also focuses on environmental issues. She said: "I love doing things like this. The reason I do them is to go and have a good time. Whether you win or lose, it's a good experience."

Miss Pressdee is looking for a local business to sponsor her in the competition this weekend.
