CHILDREN got the chance to meet author Jack Trelawny when he signed copies of his new children's book.

Mr Trelawny spent Saturday at the Village Bookshop in Woodford Green where he launched his first children's book Kernowland: The Crystal Pool.

The next book in the series, Kernowland: Darkness day is out in June.

Co-owner of the Village bookshop Alison Lawrence, 42, said: "It was our first signing since taking over the shop five weeks ago. The kids were really excited about the book and all in all it was a success."

The 43-year-old author, who lives in Coopersdale, Epping, is travelling all over the county doing book signings for his first book, and Waterstone will be featuring him as children's author of the month in March.

Mr Trelawny said: "The children seemed to be enjoying themselves, and the books are starting to be recommended to be read in schools."

Signed copies of the book are still available at the shop.
