LEYTON U10s won their first trophy in their first season as a new Leyton team.

The team (above) were taking part in the Brenda Johnson Memorial Charity competition, which is run by the Waltham Forest and District League.

The four teams competing in the event produced some excellent football with all the games having nail-biting finishes.

Leyton reached the final after a close game with William Fitt, which had to be settled by a penalty shoot-out.

The Leyton players held their nerve, scoring all of their penalties with the team goalkeeper Hamilton being the real hero by saving three of William Fitt penalties.

The final was played between Leyton and Edmonton Eagles, with Leyton starting in explosive form, going 2-0 up within the first three minutes.

The game was sealed by a superb long-range free kick from Waite. Edmonton fought back well and the remainder of the game was an exciting affair.

Leyton eventually won 3-1. Goalscorers for Leyton in the final were Waite (two) and Mukonde.

Team coaches Ray Scott and David Waite said afterwards that they were very proud of all the players.

They added that it was a great end to a first season together and the competition was a great way to raise money for the Brenda Johnson charity.
