A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 70-year-old woman from Forest Gate.
Gurvinder Nothy, 32, of Monega Road, Forest Gate, appeared at Stratford Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with murdering Mohinder Kaur Nanrya.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on August 8.
Ms Nanrya was found dead on the floor of her living room at her home in South Esk Road, Forest Gate, on April 5.
She had been asphyxiated.
Ms Nanrya was a widow with four grown-up children and five grandchildren.
