ENVIRONMENTAL charity Thames21 is calling for volunteers to join forces for a summer evening litter blitz along the River Roding near Buckhurst Hill Station.

The clean-up between 6pm and 8.30pm on Tuesday, May 9, is the fifth organised on the River Roding by Thames21 since last year and is part of a programme of work to clean up the river.

Volunteers should wear old clothes and sturdy shoes. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 16. Health and safety equipment will be provided by Thames21.

Helpers should meet outside Buckhurst Hill Community Primary School in Lower Queens Road at 6pm.
