FOR the second week running High Beach's bowling attack secured a home victory in the Herts and Essex Cricket League Division Two, this time over Langley.

Skipper Mickey Bear once again lost the toss on a wet difficult pitch and High Beach were obliged to bat.

Initial progress was slow, but a mini revival was mounted by opener Chris Brooks who worked hard for his 33 and Bear who scored a more fluent 41 before running himself out.Of the later order Paul Glasgow and Robin Bear with undefeated scores of 28 and 17 respectively helped push Beach on to their final total of 186-8. In reply Langley immediately put High Beach under pressure with opener Harvey making the difficult pitch look an easy proposition.

It was only the introduction of medium pacer Glasgow who dragged the game back to the Beach. In his first over he had Harvey caught at mid on for 67.

He eventually finished with figures of 2-28 from his 10 over allocation. Glasgow was ably assisted by the Bear brothers, younger brother Robin returning figures of 2-21 and Mickey picking up 2-33, to leave the visitors 16 runs short after they crashed all out for 170.
