AN e-fit has been released of a man who raped a woman after getting into her car as she visited a cashpoint.

The 27-year-old victim visited the ATM in Green Lanes, Dagenham, at around 5pm.

When she returned to her red Nissan Micra parked nearby, she found two men in the car.

They forced her to drive to Osier Way in Leyton, stopping along the way at various points, including New Spitalfields Market in Sherrin Road. where she was raped by both men.

The men got out of the car in Osier Way at 8pm and the victim ran away, seeking help 20 minutes later from a resident in Brunswick Road.

Both men spoke with local accents.

The man in the e-fit is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, of medium build with a shaved head. He is described as smelling strongly of cannabis and wore a dark hooded top and blue jeans.

His accomplice is described as a lighter-skinned black man, but no other details are available.

The attack happened on November 4 last year, but the police have not revealed the reason for the delay in appealing for witnesses.

Investigating officer Det Insp Tim Wilkinson from the Met's Sapphire unit said: "This was a horrific ordeal that has left the victim severely traumatised.

"I appeal to anyone who may recognise the person from the e-fit to contact police urgently or call Crimestoppers in confidence.

"Someone must know about what happened that evening, and I urge anyone with information, including anyone who may recall seeing a red Nissan Micra being driven or parked at locations given on November 4 to get in touch.

"Did you see the suspects inside that vehicle? Did you hear or see anything suspicious? Can you connect the e-fit with the locations and the red Nissan?"
