A BROTHER and sister raised more than £3,000 at the London Marathon to help a little boy with a debilitating disorder and other charities.
Liane Griffin, 40, of Hollywood Way, in Woodford Green, ran the 26.4mile run for the third time, and was this year joined by her brother, Matthew Dear, 30.
Together they raised £300 for local charity Willing Wheels, which takes terminally ill children on day trips and £1,600 for the National Autistic Society.
They also raised £1,400 for two-year-old Calum As, who has West's Syndrome, an uncommon epileptic disorder in infants, which can cause him to have up to 30 spasms a day.
Mrs Griffin said the money, which was gratefully received by his mum, Patricia Mack, of Alders Avenue, in Woodford Green, will be used to buy equipment for a sensory room at home and for garden activities.
Mrs Griffin said: “It was brilliant, I loved it. It helped that I was raising money for an individual.
"All my friends are local and it was nice to raise money for someone local and know it will go directly to him. His mum was overwhelmed by the generosity of the community, as I was too.”
