PEACE protester Brian Haw has been arrested for obstructing the police in Parliament Square, according to reports.
The Woodford Green-born father-of-seven was seen being handcuffed by officers at about 8am along with another person at his makeshift tented home directly opposite the Palace of Westminster.
The Guardian has so far been unable to contact Mr Haw as his phone is currently switched off, but a police spokesman has confirmed that two people were arrested in the area.
Mr Haw launched his campaign in Parliament Square in 2001 in protest against the Government's sanctions on Iraq and has since gone on to use it as a platform against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the Government's support for Israel.
He has survived repeated attempts by the police and politicans to remove him, but Conservative leader David Cameron said last year that if his party won the general election moves would be made to evict him from the site.
