A MAN was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car.

The collision happened at about 6.45pm yesterday in St James's Street, Walthamstow, close to St James Street railway station.

The London Ambulance Service was called and treated the man, they believe is in his sixties, and he was taken as a priority to the Royal London Hospital.

Police cordoned off the road and access to the railway station was temporarily blocked while the man was attended to.

Traffic conjestion was caused around the Markhouse Road and St James Street area until the road was reopened shortly after.
