WALTHAMSTOW: Probe launched into bus injuries

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a number of passengers were injured when a bus driver was forced to brake sharply.

A 40-year-old woman was rushed to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone with head injuries after she was thrown into a perspex partition.

Bus company Arriva are to launch a probe into the incident, which happened at 11.30am last Thursday (July 29) by the Arcade site in Hoe Street, Walthamstow.

Police were also called and interviewed the driver, although a spokeswoman said no offence had been reported.

It is believed the bus, a number 34, was forced to brake after a car suddenly stopped at a green light at the top of Walthamstow High Street.

The bus had just set off from nearby Walthamstow Central and was heading towards Edmonton and its final destination in High Barnet.

The bus and emergency services remained parked at the scene until around 12.30pm, causing minor traffic jams in the area.

It doesn't surprise me. The way some of these drivers slam on the breaks and accelerate as soon as the doors close. I see people almost falling over all the time.

Must have been someone on a phone or their phone rang why they slammed on at a green light. Happens all the time.
The amount of people I see glued with the phone to their head when driving is unbelievable. people just do not see it as a serious offence.
The bus should have just rammed the prat for stopping at the green light like that, then it would teach them a lesson.

I have made 6 complaints about the W13 in as many months, not a blind bit of notice, drivers on phones, refusing dog, dangerous driving, failing to stop at compulsory stops and so on.

No excuse, for any driver.
