AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a number of passengers were injured when a bus driver was forced to brake sharply.
A 40-year-old woman was rushed to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone with head injuries after she was thrown into a perspex partition.
Bus company Arriva are to launch a probe into the incident, which happened at 11.30am last Thursday (July 29) by the Arcade site in Hoe Street, Walthamstow.
Police were also called and interviewed the driver, although a spokeswoman said no offence had been reported.
It is believed the bus, a number 34, was forced to brake after a car suddenly stopped at a green light at the top of Walthamstow High Street.
The bus had just set off from nearby Walthamstow Central and was heading towards Edmonton and its final destination in High Barnet.
The bus and emergency services remained parked at the scene until around 12.30pm, causing minor traffic jams in the area.
