HARRY Redknapp has hit out at West Ham for claiming Tottenham have unsettled midfielder Scott Parker by making an offer for him.

Hammers co-owner David Sullivan said he was 'very angry' at Spurs' supposed attempts to unsettle Parker, who is understood to be keen to enter talks with West Ham's fierce rivals.

Sullivan knocked back an offer from Tottenham for the midfielder, believed to be in the region of £7million, having previously stated that Parker was the only member of the squad to finish last season that was not for sale.

A club statement read: “We informed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy prior to him making the offer that we would not welcome any approach to unsettle the player.”

But Redknapp, speaking after Tottenham's 4-1 drubbing by Villarreal in a pre-season friendly, countered: “Who made it public that we made an offer?

“You can make an offer for a player if you want to. You can make an offer for anybody.

“I'm sure the chairman (Levy) must have got some encouragement or he wouldn't have made the offer. So I'm not sure the full story has been told about that one.

“The chairman wouldn't have made an offer unless he thought there was a chance that they would do something.”
