A 23-YEAR-OLD Chingford man who died in a car crash at the weekend has been named.

Joe Slater was killed when the white Ford Sierra Cosworth he was driving hit a wall in Beckton just before 1am on Sunday (August 15).

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

A post mortem examination held yesterday concluded that he died as a result of head injuries.

Meanwhile police have launched a new appeal for witnesses and revealed that many people may have witnessed the crash.

Detective Sergeant Joe Lock said: "A large number of witnesses were present at the scene when the collision occurred - many of whom are yet to come forward.

"I would appeal directly to those individuals to contact police.

"It's believed the incident may have been captured on mobile phone and I would therefore also appeal to anyone in possession of any footage to get in touch as this material could greatly assist our investigation."

Two other men, aged 23 and 25, that were also in the car remain in hospital with serious injuries.

Any witnesses to the crash, which happened at the Cyprus roundabout in Royal Albert Way, are asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage on 020 8597 4874.
