LEYTON: Pedestrian seriously injured in crash

A WOMAN was seriously injured when she was hit by a truck.

She was walking in Bickley Road, Leyton, when the vehicle smashed into her at around 4.30pm today.

The street, along with a stretch of Lea Bridge Road near the Baker's Arms, was blocked for an hour following the crash.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said she was taken to the Royal London Hospital in a serious condition, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police are unable to provide further details about the crash.

Her age has not yet been released.

An air ambulance also attended the scene.

Never mind her age - was she in the road crossing to the other side, or did the truck mount the pavementOh and by the way, weren't we supposed to have 'locally' based reporters so they could get around to incidents quicker to report and take photographs?
