CAMPAIGNERS fighting for dog racing to return to Walthamstow Stadium have applied to get the entire site listed.

The entrance range and tote board are currently grade II listed, along with the kennels.

But the Save Our Stow (SOS) group has approached English Heritage with a view to protecting other areas of the site on the grounds of historical importance.

Today Rick Holloway of SOS said: "We have lodged a listing amendment with English Heritage for other areas of the site to be formally listed and we are liaising with English Heritage in this regard.

"English Heritage are being extremely co-operative in this regard as they clearly acknowledge the historical importance of the stadium."

Businessman Bob Morton has said he remains determined to do a deal with owners London & Quadrant to bring back racing to the venue, after a previous offer was turned down.

SOS says it is still planning to march on L&Q offices in Stratford to call for the housing association to do a deal.
