WALTHAMSTOW Village has been named as one of the best areas in London for greenery for the second year running.
Residents Helen Lerner, Teresa Deacon and Graham Sherman, along with council representative Paul Tickner, received a silver-gilt award and 'Best Urban Community' gong on behalf of the area at the London In Bloom Awards at a ceremony last week.
In a sub-section of awards within Walthamstow Village, Trattoria La Ruga in Orford Road scooped the Best Pub/Restaurant display category, while resident Don Mapp of Maynard Road won the Best Front Garden accolade.
Meanwhile the results of the 2010 Royal Horticultural Society's national Britain in Bloom competition, in which Walthamstow Village is an entrant representing London, will be announced at the end of this month
