A FATHER is set to stand trial after denying assaulting his former partner and her mother.

Stuart Clifton appeared at Redbridge Magistrates' Court today to answer three charges of assault relating to an incident involving his former partner Jade Makenzie and her mother Sandra.

The 34-year-old, of Roxwell Way, Woodford Green, is alleged to have assaulted the pair on June 26 at the Uplands Social Club in Woodford Bridge.

Denying the charges, Mr Clifton said: "I had people come out towards me and they came to confront me.

"There was a confrontation because my daughter was taken to a pub and I didn't want her to go there.

"I flew round there and my daughter was being allowed to run round in a social man's working club.

"I argued with my ex partner and her step-dad came out and confronted me."

After Mr Clifton entered a not guilty plea a trial date was set for December 16 at Redbridge Magistrates' Court.
